About the role
The Product Owner owns the day-to-day of WiQ's product development cycle and is the development team's primary point of contact. Driven by genuine curiosity, you'll dig past surface-level requests to understand the root cause of problems, for internal and external customers alike, then advocate for the work that earns a place on the sprint.
Working closely with the Product Manager and the Manager, Software Development, you'll fully own the Scrum rituals, the product backlog, and release quality. You'll take ownership of delivery from day one and grow over time into customer discovery. With design supported through AI-powered prototyping tools, you'll also help turn discovery insights into rapid prototypes and build-ready user stories.
What you'll do
- Act as the primary point of contact for the development team, clarifying requirements and keeping the team focused and unblocked.
- Own and facilitate all Scrum rituals (sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospectives), keeping a healthy delivery cadence.
- Own and manage the product backlog, keeping it groomed, prioritized, and aligned to business goals and customer needs.
- Approach every customer problem with curiosity, digging past the request to the root cause before committing to a solution.
- Triage incoming feedback (including the feature hopper), think critically about its impact, and escalate decisions that need broader input.
- Advocate for the customer when scoping each sprint, making the case for high-impact work.
- Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria grounded in discovery and technical context.
- Enable automation of administrative tasks using AI-powered tools.
- Partner with the Product Manager on design, using Figma and AI-powered prototyping tools to turn ideas into testable prototypes.
- Support QA and regression testing for each release; validate features, prioritize bugs, and protect release quality.
- Oversee release planning across web and mobile, coordinating approvals with Customer Success and Development.
- Support product discovery today and grow into leading it, from internal stakeholders to customer interviews and validation.
- Communicate progress, decisions, and blockers transparently to keep stakeholders aligned
What we're looking for
- Innate curiosity and a habit of digging past symptoms to the root cause; it's the single most important quality for this role.
- The confidence and initiative to own the development relationship and hold a well-reasoned position when advocating for the customer.
- 2–4 years of experience in product development, business analysis, or software delivery in a technology-focused environment.
- Hands-on experience owning a product backlog and running agile delivery cycles (preferably Scrum).
- Proven experience writing well-structured, technically informed user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Comfort with prototyping and design tools (including AI-powered design tools and Figma), or the eagerness to learn them quickly.
- Strong familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Notion, Excel, DataDog, and Postman.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to lead meetings across technical and non-technical teams.
- An analytical mindset that balances customer, technical, and business needs, plus strong organizational skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in B2B SaaS, compliance, or sustainability-focused software environments.
- Exposure to dual-track agile or discovery-based product environments.
- A track record of leading, or growing into, customer discovery, user research, or stakeholder interviews.
- Experience coordinating mobile and web releases across multiple teams or platforms.
- Prior involvement in go-to-market planning, user documentation, or product launch communication.
- Interest in growing toward a Product Manager career path.
